Our Latest Photo Shoot

Yesterday, Finley and I went to visit the teachers I taught with last year.  It was so much fun!  I was instantly filled with a little twinge of "Oh, I miss this place.  I miss teaching, I miss the kids, I miss it all!" and yet when I look at Finley, I am so GRATEFUL to be able to stay home with her!
A few weeks ago, I was browsing the sale rack at Baby Gap when I spotted this super cute sweater dress.  I picked it up and WITH tax, I paid $4.07!  Can you believe it????  I've been dying for her to wear it and decided that yesterday was the perfect occasion.  When we got home, I snapped as many pictures as I could of her in it...  (Aunt Beth, the last one is for Kenny!)

ALL DONE!

Our Valentine's Day Weekend

We had a great Valentine's Day!  Devin surprised me earlier in the week with a trip to Stillwater to go to the OSU basketball game and stay at the Atherton hotel.  I was super excited because we hadn't stayed at the Atherton since our wedding night and because we don't usually go all out for Valentine's Day.  It was definitely a treat!

Our Hotel
So Saturday morning, we woke up and I cooked Devin his favorite breakfast... french toast... and then we packed and got ready to go.  Once in Stillwater, we went to see Aunt Beth.  She was nice enough to donate basketball tickets to us since we didn't have them yet and then she also had a V-day gift for Finley!  So sweet!  Here are the pictures:

Gee, the box is bigger than I am!

Look what I got!

Notice I'm showing you what Aunt Beth bought Finley and not what Devin and I got her!  Sad, but true, Aunt Beth was more prepared than we were.  I have ordered Finley something and it still hasn't come in yet.  I'm super impatient about it because I had wanted to get it for her for Christmas, but wasn't able to so I ordered it for her for Valentine's Day and it still hasn't arrived.  I'll post a pic as soon as we get it!

At the game!
Anyway, we left Aunt Beth's and headed to Gallagher Iba.  The game was great... we played much better than we had been playing (though it could be because Iowa State isn't that good) and won the game easily.

Hey, the game got boring and it WAS my naptime!

Afterwards, we went to check into our hotel and then went back out to get dinner at Freddie Paul's which is the steak place that we had cater our wedding.  Once we were done eating, we decided to go back to our hotel and watch a movie.  As soon as we were in our room, Devin heard my phone vibrating and I received the most amazing news...  my brother was calling to say that he had proposed to his girlfriend Tracey!  I was so excited that I screamed and was probably heard halfway down the hallway!  I calmed down, fed Finley and put her down to sleep.  She slept GREAT and Devin and I were able to spend quality time together which anyone with a newborn knows is not always the case!

Our COMFY bed!

Finley's Bed!

On Sunday, we ate breakfast at the Rancher's Club and then drove to Pawnee to sort through stuff at my grandparent's house.  It was sort of an emotional journey through their things.... knowing we'd never spend another Thanksgiving or Christmas there and that their house will soon be sold.  We found some great stuff and I'm happy to have reminders of them in my daily life.

Once we were done there, we drove home and happily had most of the afternoon to just relax and enjoy the rest of our weekend.  I just love how God can multiply our time.  Though the weekend was the same length as any other, I literally felt like our weekend was a week long vacation.  It was so nice to get away and create some new memories!
