A few weekends ago, Devin and his coworkers competed in the dragon boat races down at the river. It was so much fun! I was so excited Devin was doing this because I feel like he never does anything just for himself and this was a great chance for him to work out and do something fun with the people he works with!
They are the middle boat!
Finley was quite the cheerleader! She was yelling "Go, Lingo, Go!" over and over! It was so cute!
The Finish Line
Their boat came in first, but unfortunately, they ended up in second place because the team that placed second had two more women than they did and therefore, were able to subtract some time off their score putting them into first place over team Lingo. Boo!
Congratulatory Hug!
Now they are taking up actual rowing and will compete in September! We can't wait!
Some days my life seems like one huge blessing. I look at my precious kids and amazing husband and can't believe this is really MY life. That I am the one who GETS to love them well. I spent a lot of time while pregnant with Evi and even after she was first born feeling guilty with how great everything was going.
About a month ago, I started a new Bible study with some friends on Wednesday nights. The first week the author had us list a trial in our life and I really had to contemplate what trial I was facing. The day after our first meeting a major trial hit... isn't that how it always goes...
I always say I have a low pain tolerance when it comes to trials. And this time isn't any different. I pray that God will quickly alleviate the pain, solve the situation, and move me back into my comfort zone, but it appears that isn't going to happen this time.
Throughout the New Testament, we see that we are to rejoice in our trials for they make us more Christ-like. There is no other way to be more like Christ than to suffer the way He did. So in spite of what I'm feeling, I'm having to choose to be thankful for that which hurts.
Yesterday, I was putting Jude down for a nap and heard Laura Story's Blessings on the radio. I've always loved that song, but it was just another reminder that His ways are not our ways. She wrote this song after her husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor and I love her perspective that maybe the trials in this life really are His mercies in disguise.
We serve a GOOD God... it's up to us to believe that even when we don't understand this life. I'm so thankful for all of His blessings... my husband, my kids, my family, my friends, etc. and yes, even the things I would love to change in an instant.
I have found happily ever after with my wonderful husband, Devin, and sheer bliss with my precious children, Finley, Jude, and Evi (rhymes with Chevy). I am a stay at home mom and wife who loves the Lord and is striving to be the Proverbs 31 woman. Join us on our journey as we share with our Generation To Come the wondrous works of our Savior. This is our "Life as the {C} family!"
"I know that some jobs don't really count, don't make much of a difference, don't actually matter that much, don't have much lasting significance. Not so with mothering. I know that in some jobs the worker is only handling cleaning equipment, or car parts, or computer keyboards, or insurance policies, or court cases, or political legislation, or stockholders' funds. Not so with mothering. A mother is handling things of a far greater magnitude. She's handling never-dying souls. She's daily conducting heart surgery on eternal spirits whose forever destinies are influenced most profoundly by the hands that rock their cradles, wipe their noses, spank their fannies, open their Bibles, prepare their after-school snacks, and turn off their bedroom lights. Those motherly hands are molding characters which will become men and women who will turn the world upside down either for good or for evil. Now that's a job that counts.
