Prenatal Appointment #4 & LbC's Picture!

So yes, we're having a BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!  I guess my "announcement" was a bit confusing to some.  My ideas always seem so cute in my head, but they don't always translate.  For those of you who got it, I'm so glad because it makes me feel a little less crazy.  And I have to say that I have the sweetest husband in the entire world who goes along with all of my insane ideas even though they rarely ever materialize how they are supposed to.  This idea in particular didn't work at all like I had planned.

Anyway, yesterday's appointment could not have gone better.  I had been praying all week for a quick, but thorough and accurate appointment because my appointment was at 1:00 p.m. and I had to pick Finley up 20 minutes away at 2:30 p.m.  I knew we'd at least get the ultrasound done, but feared we'd have to reschedule the results portion with my doctor and I really didn't want to wait to hear if our little one was healthy or not.

So our ultrasound began a little late, but not too bad.  Around 1:20, we were called back and the same lady who did our ultrasound with Finley was doing this one.  I immediately panicked when I saw our baby on the screen because there was absolutely NO movement.  In fact, he slept through the entire thing even though she pushed and poked while taking the measurements.  Finley was doing backflips the whole time and moving all about so this really freaked me out at first.  Fortunately, whereas with Finley, the sonographer had to try about 10 times per measurement, this little man was super-easy and took no time at all to measure.  He also wasn't shy about showing that he was a boy!  Devin and I were both completely shocked as we had thought for sure we were having another girl.  We couldn't be more thrilled!  We are so excited to welcome a baby boy into our family!

For several weeks, but particularly the past few days, I have really been praying that God would give me confidence in His will for this child... whether boy or girl, whether healthy or not... that I would just know that He was in charge and knew what was best for us.  After all, this is HIS child so I feel nothing, but blessed to have Mr. C (as Devin now calls him) entrusted to us.

After the ultrasound, we had to wait for almost 30 minutes before we could see my doctor.  We spent the time making excited phone calls because fortunately, our sonographer declared that all looked great on the ultrasound so we weren't as nervous to hear what my doctor had to say.  Usually the sonographer won't tell you anything since it is the doctor's job to explain any health concerns so we were ever so grateful to know that the ultrasound hadn't revealed any concerns.  I also thought it was funny that she estimated my due date to be February 19th instead of the 21st because Finley's ultrasound also revealed her to be due exactly two days before our original due date!  Too funny to see the coincidences!

When my nurse finally called me to be weighed and head to an exam room, I quickly explained that I needed to pick up Finley and only had about 15 minutes before I would have to leave.  She assured me that she would have Dr. W see me next and even though I felt bad about being bumped up on the list, I knew my time with Dr. W would be less than 5 minutes and wouldn't throw the other appointments off too much.

Sure enough, Dr. W came in and said that our baby looks absolutely perfect!  We were so excited to have that confirmation again.  We talked about a few questions I had and then we scrambled out the door.  I made it to Finley's school with literally one minute to spare so God was so faithful in answering my prayer all the way around with this appointment.

After picking Finley up, we went to find our new man a present.  It took us three different stops before I could find anything I was willing to dress him in!  I actually think boy clothes are every bit as cute as girl clothes, but there is definitely less selection and I am even pickier with boy clothes than I am with girl ones so it's going to be quite interesting to see if Mr. C ends up with enough clothes to survive the first year.  I'm sure it won't be a problem, but I'm glad I can start now and find the few pieces here and there that I love!  I would say I may only like 10% of the stuff that is out there, but that's okay, my sweet boy is worth the extra effort!  And as I have been teased several times already, yes, I know that I can't put bows in his hair!  Trust me, that won't be a problem!  I'm all about Mr. C being ALL boy!  It wouldn't be any fun to have one if I didn't!
