Prenatal Appointment #3 & 16-Week Comparison

Yesterday, I had my third prenatal appointment and everything looked just great!  It's always a relief to hear the heartbeat and ask my 101 questions!

This appointment including the quad screening which checks for several things including Down Syndrome and Trisonomy.  We won't know the results for a week which makes me a bit anxious.  Obviously, this screening doesn't guarantee anything one way or another, but it does help indicate whether further testing is necessary and if the results show that everything looks normal, then there is about an 80% chance that our baby will be healthy!

The heartbeat was 142 today down from 164 at the last appointment.  My nurse laughed and finally said "I guess we'll go with 142 because this little one doesn't like hearing its heartbeat anymore than Finley did!" Yes, this one is every bit as much of a mover and a shaker as his/her big sister was...

And finally, a 16-Week Comparison:
I admit I was shocked when I saw the comparison.  I have felt like I was showing from day 1 with this little one and I've told Devin that if a baby #3 is a part of our future, we will be forced to tell everyone at week 4 because it will be so obvious that we are expecting.  I couldn't believe how similar the comparison is!  I really thought I was showing a lot more with this one, but so far, it seems I am pretty much on track with where I was in pregnancy #1.

I wish I would've taken more pictures when I was pregnant with Finley so that I could do these comparisons more often!  It's so fun to see!

LbC: Week 16

(I've been blogging behind the scenes about this pregnancy and will eventually have all prior weeks posted, but until then, know that there is terrible natural lighting in our house so most of the pregnancy pictures will look grainy like this one does!)

Little Baby C {LbC} Pregnancy: Inch by Inch from 4 to 40 {weeks}

Trimester: 2
How far along: 16 weeks
Size of baby: An avocado
What is going on with baby: Eyes and ears are moving into permanent location, baby can begin hearing our voices (how fun!) and LOTS of growth!
Total weight gain: +1.5
Maternity clothes: Not yet...
Gender Guess: Girl, but I'm still going back and forth.
Movement: This past week I've started to feel this little one more than just a rare jab when I move a certain way.  I'm not really feeling kicks, but more just movement and pressure up against my skin.  I absolutely love it!
Food cravings: Lots of bread! =)
Symptoms: Heartburn
Sleep: Still having some crazy dreams, but all-in-all I can't complain!
Best Moment This Week: A long weekend with Devin and Finley where LBC received lots of kisses and love.
Looking Forward To: Our Doctor's Appointment Today!
My Prayer for This Week: (These come from an email service, but I edit them some....)

Dear Lord,

I pray for my baby's growth. As his or her face continues to develop, please cause everything to come together to form a  child created in Your perfect image.

If I'm having a girl, I pray for her ovaries and eggs that will give her children someday.  Lord,  your plans are so awesome.  Your Word says that children are an inheritance from the Lord, and I pray that my daughter will have the blessings of being a mother one day.  And God, I pray for my daughter's future husband, that You will bring a good, kind, loving, wise man into her life, and most of all, that he will be a man of God who loves You and follows Your Word.

If I'm having a boy, I pray for my son's future wife.  Bless her and bring her and my son together in Your timing.  I pray that she will be a woman who loves my son and is a good and faithful wife; but most of all, that she is a woman of God who loves You and follows Your Word.

Ultimately, I pray that whatever your desire for this child... marriage or not... children or not... that You will create a content heart that trusts in Your ultimate plan for his/her life.  May I model a content heart for him/her to see.
Finally, Lord, You said that You delight in giving us the desires of our heart, so I ask that I will have a special, loving relationship with the mates of my children, that we will all get along and enjoy one another's company. I also ask for the blessing of being an integral part of my grandchildren's lives to help them, to pass on wisdom and to be a blessing to them.
In Jesus' name. Amen.
