My nurse would always laugh when trying to get Finley's heart rate because as soon as she would get it, Finley would flip and leave the nurse trying to hunt it down again. We almost never had an accurate heart rate and I was alway sad that I didn't get to hear that "whoosh-whoosh" longer.
So when Finley was born, it wasn't a big shock to find that she was just as wiggly outside of the womb as she was inside of it.
We swaddled her until she was 10 months old despite the fact that by 4 months, most babies absolutely hate being swaddled. It was the only way to get her still long enough for her to fall asleep.
And here she is at 15 months, still a blur of motion. My little busy bee... and I love it. Lately, though she has become a bit more of a "lovey." Granted, she may only cuddle for 30 seconds at a time, but she is definitely becoming more of a snuggler.... and I love that too.
Whereas she once only played with blocks and non-toys such as drawers and dvd boxes, she now points to her baby dolls and isn't satisfied until she has her little arms full of at least 3 of them.
Of course, she still loves her blocks and cars and anything that fills her curious little mind, but oh, how she loves her babies these days...
Last week we were sitting in the playroom and she was rocking her three babies to sleep and before I could even realize what I was saying, I told her "You are such a good Mommy!"
And then tears just streamed down my face because those were the very words my own mom used to tell me over and over when I cradled my million plus Cabbage Patch Kids in my arms. The very words I had long forgotten that she would say to me.
What a gift it was... to hear my mom's voice through mine. To hear her say the very words that I so long to hear her say to me now... "You are such a good Mommy." Thank you, God, for always knowing when I am in need!
So in honor of little mommies and their baby dolls, here are our February pictures:
