What I Miss...

It's no secret that I love being pregnant.  Maybe that's because God blessed me with getting pregnant easily, having complication free pregnancies, and having amazing newborns!  I never posted the maternity pictures that Beth took so I thought I would now.  As ecstatic as I am to have Evi here, I can't help but miss her being in my tummy.

Here are just a few things I miss most...
  • feeling her kick
  • anticipating another voice calling me Mommy
  • clear skin
  • my doctor's appointments
  • hearing her heartbeat
  • thinking of names for her
  • waking up with a plan just in case she decided to come that day
  • seeing the reactions when people saw my big tummy and how little Jude still was
  • dreaming of what she would look like
  • the pure anticipation of each new milestone
  • taking naps and not feeling too guilty for it... totally should have taken advantage of that more
  • listening to Finley talk to my stomach
  • being super emotional anytime I looked at her sonogram picture
  • feeling her hiccups
  • my thick hair
  • planning her nursery
  • my skinny arms and legs
  • getting Chewy Spree at the mall
  • hearing Finley pray for the "new baby"
  • packing her diaper bag
  • seeing newborns and knowing that it would be my turn soon
  • reading my weekly emails about how she was developing
  • talking with Devin about our growing family and knowing that she was a part of both of us
  • trusting God on a whole other level knowing I was carrying another LIFE inside of me
  • how beautiful I felt... though Devin would probably argue this one because I would always complain when trying to pick out an outfit!

It's kind of crazy that here I am just a few months outside of pregnancy and already these things seem too good to be true.  It's hard to believe that Evi really was growing inside of me.  I can hardly remember what it felt like to have her kick me or to feel her little body when I put my hand on my stomach and that makes me so sad now.

This whole parenthood thing is bittersweet...  I love each and every stage, but I can't help but wish I could have a rewind button every now and then so that I could do it all over again!

(And let it be known that taking these pictures with Beth was one of the funniest days ever!  The wind was out-of-control so we'd get set and then my hair would be all over the place and Beth would have to come fix me every 1.34 seconds, Jude was playing/eating/wallering in the mud (it had just rained) and climbing up the stairs and trying to fall off of them, and Finley was taking a nap inside so we were dashing in and out to make sure she was okay and not screaming her little head off.  Plus there was one part where Beth had me lying on the ground and decided the picture would be better a few feet over.  She moved all of her stuff and then looked back at me and said "Did you hear me?" and I said "Yep, I just have no idea how to get up from here!"  We both died laughing and she came to my rescue!  It was a day that I couldn't have imagined being a part of with anyone but her!)

Evi's Cuddles & Cupcakes {Sip and See}

Almost a month ago, Melissa and Beth threw Evi a Sip and See.  It was so sweet of them even though I heavily resisted for months.  I absolutely hate showers and being the center of attention and people thinking they need to buy us gifts, but once Evi was here, I caved.  I was so appreciative that they wanted to celebrate my beautiful girl!  I kept it super small (like Jude's I went with just close friends and no family since family has the chance to see her more) so that it wouldn't stress me out and so that I would feel more comfortable and it was one of my favorite showers because of that.

Here are pictures (thanks to Beth!) from Evi's big day!

Father's Day 2012

Father's Day is always a great weekend!  It's hard, however, to juggle celebrating my dad, Devin's dad, and Devin himself!  We always have a good time and I'm always thankful that we are able to fit it all in!

 Finley coloring Daddy's present

Because of our busy weekend, Finley and I made Devin Bananas Foster French Toast on Friday and let it sit in the refrigerator overnight.  We then made it for breakfast on Saturday morning.  I love that Finley can help me make Devin's day so special!

After naps, we headed to Tulsa to celebrate my dad!  We cooked out at my brother and sister-in-law's neighborhood which was great!  I already posted this, but my dad kept saying how much Finley reminded him of me and couldn't believe how big Jude was getting.

And of course, he got to meet little Evi!

My dad got Finley hooked on singing cards so she had a lot of fun giving Grandpa Bill his musical card!  Devin and I aren't exactly enjoyed this love as we are now spending an insane amount of money on cards when Finley is involved in picking them out.  Hee, hee!

Thankfully, there is a splash pad and playground in my brother's neighborhood so we let the kids play a little bit after dinner to get out their energy.

We love being able to see my family... just wish we could have more adult conversation!  HA!

On Sunday, we went to church and for some reason I didn't snap a picture of Devin with the kids.  THAT IS CRAZY!  Every once in awhile I realize that I really am a mother of 3 and that some things just aren't getting remembered!

After church we had lunch with Devin's family.  I didn't bring my camera so I don't have any pictures from there either.  We came home for naps and then let Devin open his presents-- a new palm sander and a Thunder shirt!

We are so thankful for a chance to celebrate what a wonderful Dad Devin is!!!!
