Finley is 11 months old today! I fully intend to enjoy her last month as a baby before she officially becomes a toddler! Finley is simply delightful these days. There's no other way to put it. We adore her to no end and absolutely love seeing who she is becoming.
She weighs 17 pounds 14 ounces and is 28 inches long. She's in the 10th percentile in both. She is definitely slowing down on her growth rate.
She really enjoys bathtime, but doesn't like to sit in the tub. She would much rather stand which can make it a bit scary at times as we try to keep her from slipping.
She loves watching other kids. She tends to sit back and observe them, but isn't afraid to cut in when she wants a part of the action.
She now has enough hair for a little ponytail on top. I love it! Especially since she will pull headbands and hats off these days!
She LOVES string cheese and bananas. I think she would make herself sick on these two foods if we would let her. We're still very cautious with fruits, but are hoping she is beginning to outgrow her food allergy.
She is in 6-12 month clothing though some of it is a bit big. I love that I can buy her this size knowing she'll probably be in it for awhile.
She continues to be a great sleeper. Sleeping 12 hours at night and a two hour nap both morning and afternoon.
She has recently developed tears. I didn't know that babies weren't born with tears, but Finley is just now starting to cry with real tears. Up close, you can see the tears streaming down her face. I think she looks exactly like me when she cries.
She would rather face towards where we are going in the shopping cart. She is constantly wiggling trying to face the other direction and can usually loosen the seatbelt in the process. It's a battle every time we go grocery shopping.
She's in size 3 diapers and I don't like them nearly as much as the soft size 1 and 2 diapers. They also start going crazy on the cartoon designs and I preferred the plain white ones. (I'm sure this seems ridiculous, but not all of Finley's dresses have bloomers and hate having cute pictures ruined by her ugly diaper. Yes, I know I sound even more ridiculous now!)
She loves my lens cap and I have a hard time getting pictures of her because she goes right to grabbing it and no longer poses for me.
In the last month, we've gotten rid of the white noise we would play while she was sleeping.
Not only can she feed herself a bottle, but most of the time she does it one-handed! Of course, she often gets distracted during bottle time and will go off and play before finishing it. She hasn't figured out how to go from sitting to lying on her back so we have to help her get back into bottle drinking position.
She's can now get into any and every cabinet and drawer. I'm amazed at her abilities to make a mess!
Though I'm sure this will change, she doesn't fuss long when we take something away from her or tell her "No". She is still at the stage where it is easy to distract her into playing with something else.
So far she never (or very rarely) gets cranky when she is overtired. We have kept her up late a lot recently and she has been such a good sport. She definitely did not inherit this from me!
She likes to bounce while "standing" on her knees. It looks painful, but she does it all the time when she gets excited.
She's a blur of movement these days and is always into a million things. She is getting better at riding her little car which is fun, but storytime has become rather short. She tries to eat the book or squirm out of my arms so that she can grab something nearby.
She continues to have Devin's circulation. Her toes get so cold at night so we put two pairs of socks on her. I'm sure that one pair would probably work just fine, but she can manage to wiggle those off so two pairs stay on better.
She knows how to fake things... She'll fake cough, sneeze, cry, and laugh. It's so adorable!
She still has such sparkling eyes! Everyone comments on them... and apparently I can't either because I continue to comment on them in every All About Finley post!
She has started really playing with the dog and cat. She will bat at them or try to pet them. She's still a little rough, but so far they have been very tolerant of her!
Even though she has learned how to climb stairs, she hasn't ever initiated climbing them. I'm just waiting until she does and then it'll definitely be time for the baby gates to go up.
She loves being outside! We go on a walk almost every day and she absolutely loves it. She really enjoys it when I put her on the grass and let her play.
She is showing more likes and dislikes towards food. She absolutely hates spaghetti and meatballs. She is getting better with the textures of Stage 3 foods, but for some reason that ones is pointless to even try. She much prefers to feed herself so we almost always have puffs out for her to eat while we try to feed her real food.
She doesn't really like to be alone. Even if I'm not playing with her, she likes for me to be nearby.
She has started pulling people towards her. She will grab their shirts and pull as hard as she can... and I should mention that she is quite strong! She was doing this with Aunt Beth at the Houston game and then also would pull Grandma Jan and PaPa towards her when they were riding in the backseat with her.
She is becoming a more confident stander. She'll pull up on things and let go without a problem. She doesn't stand for a very long time, but it's getting longer and longer. She's also stood up in the middle of the room several more times.
She has become better and better at transferring objects from one hand to another and is really good at feeding herself these days. Her hand-eye coordination is really improving.
We love that she is so curious and continue to encourage it. She enjoys anything with movable parts and loves to examine how all of the parts work.
Her favorite toy this month is probably the spray bottle. She is still going for unconventional toys! In the highchair picture, she is having a super-fun time playing with a sock!
She is orange which isn't a bad thing when you're an OSU fan! She truly has a yellowish, orangish tint to her. I had heard this happens when babies eat too many carrots and since Finley can't eat fruit, most of her food is orange.
She is still a climber! She is climbing all over the place and can almost climb into the bathtub by herself.
She still only has her two bottom middle teeth.
She is becoming ticklish. She giggles when I kiss her sweet baby feet.
She has several words... Hi, Bye (every once in awhile), Go (it's her newest word), Mama, Dada, Dog, and Cat.
And as always, she is truly the most wonderful, beautiful baby ever and I love her more than I can stand!
