One Year Ago

One Year Ago

Today
(Look at her super cute mini skirt! I tried to take a picture
of her in the same position she was in the womb.)

What a difference a year can make, huh? I was so anxious for our appointment that day. I was a mix of emotions not knowing what we would find out. Devin missed his all important Hill meeting in order to be at the doctor's office. My blood pressure was high which is VERY unusual for me because I was so nervous about it all.

As soon as we sat down with the nurse, she said, "There is a lot of information on the Internet... do not go to it. Call me if you have any questions or problems. If it is after hours, you can search on WebMd, but nowhere else." I laughed because I had already been all over the Internet and completely freaked myself out which is what the nurse was concerned about.

Once we met with my OB, she asked all the typical questions and because I was having some "complications," she decided to do an ultrasound. She cautioned us that we might not be able to hear the heartbeat since I wasn't very far along. She wasn't able to get the first ultrasound machine to work correctly so we had to wait for the better machine and room to open up. By this point, I was so anxious that I thought I was going to pass out. The wait, however, was well worth it when we first heard the miraculous sound of the little heart swooshing inside. I wanted to just stay and listen forever. I was so beyond thankful that we were able to hear the heartbeat and confirm that everything was okay and just as excited to have the first picture of our beautiful little one. Babies are truly a miracle!
