Since we wouldn't be seeing my family for Easter, I called both my brother and dad a few days beforehand to let them know the good news. I loved teasing my dad about being a GRANDPA and my brother was clearly ecstatic about becoming an uncle. We also ended up telling Amy and Dillon the day after our appointment with the doctor. We had been planning to wait and tell them with everyone at Easter lunch, but they called and asked us to meet them at Pearl's to watch a NCAA tournament game and we knew we couldn't keep it a secret. I was so glad we decided to tell them separately since it is always fun to tell your news over and over, but also because I knew I could ask Amy all kinds of pregnancy questions and that she could help me with everything!

Finally, Easter day arrived and once we were at Amy & Dillon's house for lunch, Devin immediately gave his parents a gift sack for them to open. I'm sure the suspected something since we typically do not get them an Easter present. Inside, his mom unwrapped the sparkly egg that when opened contained our sonogram picture. Grandma Jan and PaPa John were so excited and immediately turned to show Devin's Grandma, Delores. We then told Amy's family (who are kind of our family anyway) and we all started talking about everything "baby!" It is one of my favorite memories of being pregnant!
I have yet to blog about telling Beth which I should have done awhile ago. She was the first person to know we were expecting. The day after I took the pregnancy test, she happened to be coming into town for a shopping day. I was really frustrated because I knew EXACTLY how I wanted to tell her, but hadn't been able to get what I needed for my plan on telling her. I was hoping to make it though our shopping day without telling her so that I could share the news the way I had always planned, but as soon as I saw her, I knew that I wouldn't last the day. So on our way to the mall, I kept trying to think of a fun way to tell her, but any plan was ruined at our first store. We were trying on clothes in the dressing rooms and we had both come out to show each other our first outfit. I had on a dress that I thought was cute, but had room for a growing stomach. As soon as she saw me she said "That is WAY too big on you! What size did you get? That can't be your normal size." I just replied "Oh, I thought it was kind of cute big" as we both went back into our dressing rooms. As Beth was shutting her door, she said "Only if you're PREGNANT!" I nervously laughed and said "No, not pregnant." Beth then said "Hey, what do you think of this shirt?" And I peaked out to see it and she said "You're pregnant." in her sixth sense kind of way. (It was very matter-of-fact... it was obvious that she KNEW!) There was no point in denying it so I said "Because I really wanted to tell you in the middle of an American Eagle dressing room!"

Later that week, I drove to Stillwater and told her the way I had originally planned even though she already knew. I wrapped up a tiara, a wand, and some wings. I knew she'd be like "What is this?" since it was such a random, non-Beth gift. In the bottom was a note from "Baby C" telling her that this bag contained everything she needed to be the perfect "Fairy Godmother." I thought it was cute. I'm sure it was cheesy, but remember I AM the one who told her husband through an Easter egg hunt! Cheesy is my thing!
