Summer Recap-- May 2010

So I have NOT been the best blogger the past few months.  Like most things, I needed a break this summer. To not have an agenda.  To not have a check-list.  To not have any major obligations.  It has been wonderful, but now that we're almost at the end of August, I'm craving routine again and am regretting that I haven't posted more about what we've been up to this summer.  So...

I decided I would do a Summer Recap series which will not include as many pictures as I would normally post, but will at least satisfy my desire to capture the important events of our family.

So we'll start in May even though I did a better job blogging in May than I did in June or July...

18 Month Old Pictures: Finley and I went to Stillwater and spent the day with Aunt Beth.  She captured some great pictures of us!  We had so much fun and it was nice to be able to change outfits a million times without feeling bad or wasting the time of a professional photographer.  I've shared a lot of this pictures and have a few of them in the banner of our blog as well.  The more I go through them the more I find that I like!

Finley is laughing here, but it's hard to tell!

Mother's Day: I already blogged about Mother's Day, but I'm just trying to remember everything that happened in May.  My gift for Mother's Day was to be able to enlarge some pictures of Finley as well as pictures of me with Finley that Beth took.  I still haven't gotten around to ordering them!  I'm so bad!  I have in my mind how I want my new picture display to look, but just haven't found the time to put it all together!  As soon as I make my order, I'll have to post a picture of how it all turned out.

Arbonne Party:  I hosted an Arbonne Party at my house.  I love Arbonne... always have.  Always will.  And now that Beth is a District Manager for Arbonne, I have even more reasons to purchase... after all, isn't it a requirement to support your best friend in her new business?  I'm just wishing our checkbook would allow me a little more financial backing! =)  I'm fairly sure that Arbonne is going to be calling me ANY day now to serve as their new Self-Tanner spokesmodel because let me just say, it has been LIFE-CHANGING!  After years of longing for that perfect tan, I have FOUND it!  It is my new must-have and I'm seeing a very lasting relationship in our future.  Oh, my word!  If only I had found it sooner!  I am a little jealous of Beth because she is so good at this kind of stuff and will be SO successful with Arbonne!  I so wish I could sell it because I truly love all of it and believe in their company.  It's totally not in my personality to be successful at it, but I'm happy to live vicariously through her! =)

BSF:  I blogged a little about this, but BSF ended at the end of May and even though I think breaks are great, I was really sad to see it end for the summer.  BSF is a bit of a time commitment and yet, it is so worth it.  I spent May being a Discussion Leader in Training and so my time commitment was expanded to include Leader's Meetings.  I'm so glad I was able to get my feet wet and figure out the time I need to dedicate to it for September.  God is so humbling me through my experience in BSF.  I am feeling so unworthy of being a Discussion Leader.  I have so much to work on and so much more spiritual growth to experience, but I am trusting Him to work through me and know that I will never be enough and that's just how it is supposed to be!

MDO: Finley finished MDO at VBC and I know blogged about it, but it was a difficult ending for me.  I loved her time there and was sad that she wouldn't have the consistency of staying in one program.  Devin and I did feel it was important to keep her in MDO over the summer so in my June post, I'll discuss all of that! =)

Grace's 4th Birthday:  We celebrated Grace's (in the blue tights!) birthday at Gymboree and it was so much fun!  I love Grace and Allison so much.  They are just the sweetest girls!  They love all over Finley!  It is so great to see.  Finley loved Gymboree, but Devin and I spent the majority of the time running around after her (with Allison's help!)  because she wasn't quite big enough to really play on everything.  She thought she was big enough which is where the problems started! =)  I was a little disappointed because we were so busy chasing Finley down that we didn't have a chance to really talk to my brother and Tracey.  I'm so thankful Tracey has family that lives in Edmond because we get the chance to see them more often now.

Memorial Day Weekend:  Just like last year, we wanted to go swimming on the first weekend that the pools opened so we took Finley to Grandma and PaPa's neighborhood pool.  We love their pool area because they have a small wading pool that is perfect for Finley.  She still wasn't sure about putting her head in and had had enough pool time after an hour, but it was still a great chance to reintroduce her to the water.  I also went with Allison to hunt garage sales!  We had so much fun.  I love going with her because she has a great eye for things and knows my house and design style well enough that she can totally point out things that I overlook!  I honestly can't remember what else we did, but I remember we had a good time.  As much as I love filling our long weekends with activities, I know Devin enjoys some downtime when he can get it so we purposely didn't plan a lot and it was GREAT!  Quality family time at its best!

MICHELLE -- YAY your back!! I was disappointed when you changed your blog to private and missed the posts so I was thrilled today when I got on to see that you are back in "business". The new format is awesome... would you mind doing mine next, please? j/k Thanks for all of the updates and I think I might just try out that sunless tanner, although somehow the Minnesota Sun has tanned me this year, of course along w/ my freckles, but I have honestly never been able to tan in my entire life and somehow being on the lake has made me tan... I even have tan lines, something I thought was impossible for me... LOL
