Happy 3rd Birthday, Finley!

Dear Finley,

Today you are 3 years old!  Three years ago I held you for the first time in a hospital room and couldn't believe you were really mine.  Now here we are three years later and I still can't believe you are mine!

You are so sweet.  So smart.  So funny.  So sassy.  So particular.  So curious.  So loving.  So daredevilish. So girly one minute.  So tomboy the next.  So independent.  So pouty.  So picky.  So joyous. So opinionated!  So amazing!

I honestly can't believe that you came from me and your Daddy and yet you are such a blend of the two of us!  You seem to have my fit-throwing, pouty, paticularity and your Dad's curiousity and mindset.  You are so me personality wise and yet at the same time can be just like your Dad in so many other ways.

But you are also YOU.  You are super social and want to always be on the go.  We always laugh that you are so much more outgoing than either of us are.  We love that while you are aspects of us that you are also completely and totally one-of-a-kind!

I love you so much and as I am every year on your birthday I am a mix of sadness that you are getting older so quickly and a mix of giddy anticipation as I can't wait to see what is next!

This past year has been an amazing one and we have been through so much-- you got rid of your pacifier, became a big sister, learned to use the potty, broke a bone, learned to swim (kind of), decided sand wasn't so bad afterall, became a phone talker, started sleeping in a big girl bed, learned your alphabet, figured out your left from your right, learned to dress yourself, started watching tv, gained a VERY big vocabulary, began boisterously cheering for the Cowboys, started praying by yourself, fell in love with helping me cook, started swinging in a belt swing, attempted to ride your tricycle, got more bruises than are countable, started living on yogurt and applesauce, got a few freckles, and probably about a million other things that I can't even remember!

You are my sweet girl who I adore more than you'll ever know!  I absolutely love every day that I get to spend with you and pray that we have a billion more together!
