All About Jude-- 15 Months

Dear Jude,

It seems forever since I've written a post all about you!  You have changed sooooo much in the last few months.  I'm not even sure where to begin, but one thing that has not changed is just how crazy I am about you!  I can't get enough of you.... especially since we do not have nearly enough alone time together!  Get ready because mommy-son dates WILL be a part of our near future!

Here's just a few highlights about you at 15 months:

  • You weigh 22 pounds 7 ounces (25th percentile) and are 31 inches tall (25-50th percentile).
  • You are wearing mostly 12-18 month clothes.  I usually buy rompers and one piece jammies in a size larger because of your long torso.  You are in size 4 diapers and wear a 3.5 or 4 in shoes.
  • You took your very first step on your first birthday, but walked very intermittedly until you were 14.5 months old.  The night I went into labor with Evi you took several steps and then just continued to take more and more.  You are now pracitically running.
  • You don't have many words yet.  You kind of point and grunt now and mimic sounds that Finley makes.  You say Daddy, ball, pizza, and baby, but not on a consistent basis.  You are definitely getting more verbal, but Dr. K said that since you are a boy and have an older much more verbal sister that we shouldn't be too concerned by your delayed speech!
  • You LOVE being outside.  You will point to the door constantly and want to go out.  We can't say "outside" because you will start crying if we aren't going out right then.
  • You are a a really good eater.  You are becoming more picky than you used to be... definitely have more preferences, but for the most part you still eat a pretty good variety.
  • You are an amazing sleeper.  We sleep from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m., take an hour and a half morning nap and a two hour afternoon nap.  WOW!
  • You LOVE books!  You get so excited about them and like to flip through the pages.  You aren't always good about sitting still during reading time, but you definitely like your books.
  • You are a climber.  It's crazy.  You have climbed onto the middle of the coffee table and stood up.  You also like to use our little red chairs to climb up onto the art table.  You are also trying to climb up the slide like your sister and can climb up the ladder of the playhouse on your own.  You stress me out, but I love it!
  • Your "boyness" is becoming more and more apparent.  You are rough on everything and just very "physical"-- knocking things over and throwing things... getting into things you know you shouldn't.... finding things that are hidden in the most random places to figure out.... I just can't quite explain it, but you are trouble with a capital T!  And yet, you aren't trying at all to be bad or anything like that... you are just into everything and again I love it even if it is exhausting!
  • You love your blanket and taggie blankie (though we lost it this past month)!  You are so cute with them.  You love to rub your face in your blankie!  You get so excited when you see them.
  • You can shake your head "no-no" and you smile while you do it...  like you are super-proud of yourself.
  • You love to dance.  If there is music playing, you are dancing!
  • You are starting to show just a little separation anxiety at church, but it goes away quickly and then you have a ton of fun.
  • You started really playing with toys a couple of weeks before Evi was born which has been amazing!  You are a good independent player, but you also love playing with your sister!  It's just fun to see what you like to play with and how much focus you can have at such a young age!
  • You don't like the stroller very much right now.  You do better if Finley is there to entertain you, but you really want to be out and running around like a big kid.
  • You are pretty cuddly... I like to rock you after naptime because you are still waking up and like to lay your head on my chest.  Awww... it is the BEST!
  • You are truly in love with your sisters.  You want to do everything Finley does and are pretty fascinated with her.  She is very sweet to you 99% of the time so I can completely understand that.  As for Evi, it's taken awhile for you to really take an interest in her, but now you are pretty excited about her.  You do like to steal her binky, but you've also tried very sweetly to give her her binky on more than one occassion... SO SWEET!  I just love it!
  • You are my water boy!  You love the water!  You don't mind at all when we pour water over your head in the bathtub.
  • Your favorite foods are Hamburger Helper mac-n-cheese, mandarin oranges, beans (though you go through phases where you won't eat them), chicken, PIZZA, waffles, and pretty much whatever canned fruit we have on hand!
  • You've had two haircuts.  I had Linda cut your hair when you were right around 14 months, but she didn't take much off of it and it soon looked a bit mullet-y so Daddy took the razor and his scissors to it a few weeks later and it looks sooooo much better!
  • You've recently become a fit thrower when you don't get your way.  Thankfully, you are easily distracted and we can get you to focus on something else and you forget about your fit.
  • You can climb up the stairs, but we are still working on going back down them.
  • You love playing basketball, vrooming cars, and taking things in and out a million times.
  • You are pretty much always a complete mess.  I can put a bib on you, but you still get food everywhere.  Even if I strip you down, I still can't manage to get all the stickiness off you... I remember Finley going through a messy stage, but I don't remember it being nearly this bad.
  • You love to wrestle with Finley.  You crack up when she pulls you around the room by your hand or foot.  I always worry you are going to get hurt, but you laugh so hard that I can't make her stop! =)
You are my buddy buds and I can't even stand how much I love you!

Love,
Mommy
