My sweet girl dressed up for Mother's Day
So since this is my first Mother's Day, I figured it was worth two posts. Devin had been asking me for several weeks what I'd like for Mother's Day and I was having a hard time deciding on something. I really wanted something meaningful to commemorate the day.
I have been needing a new Bible and the more I thought about the idea, the more I liked it being my Mother's Day gift. I went to Mardel's and found a Women's Devotional Bible that has lots of space on each page to jot notes and lots of blank pages in the back. My goal is to use this Bible as somewhat of a journal. In the back, I am going to write a verse each Mother's Day that I will pray for Finley throughout the year. This year's verse was easy since it was the verse I've been praying for her since before she was born....
Let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. I Peter 3:4
I so desire Finley to have a spirit that is pleasing to God and love that this verse encourages us to have that spirit even in our "hidden" person.
I also plan to use this Bible to record different situations that we're going through. For instance when I struggle with discipline, when Finley has problems with friends at school, when Finley and I disagree over clothing choices, or whatever is going on in our lives, I hope to find a verse that gives us Biblical guidance and write out to the side of it the date and issue so that one day we can go back and look at God's answered prayers. I think it will also be a great testimony of how God's instruction is alive and profitable to us each and every day. I'm not usually good at following through with lifelong projects like this one, but I would love to give this Bible to her on her first Mother's Day... though I think it would also be a good graduation or wedding gift.
In a side note, Finley has recently been babbling "dadadadadada." Devin worked really hard with Finley to say "mamamama" by Mother's Day, but it didn't happen. =)
