1,095 Days

(This is my 100th post!!!!  And if I were a better planner, I would have blogged a list of 100 things, goals, etc., but to be honest, I can't imagine a better subject for my 100th post than the following....)

Today is mine and Devin's anniversary!  We have been married for 1,095 days!  3 years just seems way too short considering how difficult it is for me to imagine not being with Devin!!!!!!  I honestly can't remember him not being in my life!

It's fun to think back to what we were doing three years ago on this day.  We recently watched our wedding video and it was so exciting to remember all of the details, but more than anything I am so thankful that our wedding day was a beginning and not an end.  I can look back fondly at our wedding and know that on that day we began our own family, our own life, and most importantly, our own ministry.  I am sure that I was a bit sad that all of the wedding planning was over and that the dream of that special day was here and gone, but I am grateful that I had so much more to look forward to than just a pretty dress and some fancy vows.  I could no doubt go back and plan a better wedding, but I could not ever have planned a better marriage.

Here we are three years later and I have no regrets.  No longings to go back.  Only excitement over where we are now and what we have to look forward to.  I realize that not everyone has a good marriage.  Not everyone has an amazing husband like mine who lovingly puts me in my place, makes me a better person, endures how crazy Beth and I can be together, trusts me to raise our child in a Godly way, has confidence in me to try new things, calmly accepts whenever I do something completely stupid, pretends to support whatever new plan I have for decorating, overlooks the mess I'm making because he knows I'll clean it up even though he doesn't understand why I can't just be clean in the first place, encourages me to take risks, reads books with me on how to maintain our wonderful marriage, realizes when I'm stressed and gives me a new perspective even if I'm not ready to hear it, financially supports my craft and clothing habit, cheers louder than anyone I know for my Cowboys, always consults my opinion no matter how minor the decision, forgives me when I'm cranky because I need food or sleep, and believes I'm the best wife he could've ever married despite all of my many shortcomings.

And because I have a husband who does all of this and more, I can't wait to be married another 1,095 days!  Our marriage is truly an answer to long-awaited prayers and proof that happily-ever-afters do exist.

I have no words...that was beautiful! I couldn't have found a better husband for you myself. He's perfect for you! I hope that Kenny and I will be just as blessed as you two are! Love you both!!!
