So Finley and I had a great day celebrating her birthday yesterday. We woke up and went to her well-check appointment. I was excited because it had been three months since her last appointment (we had been going every 2 months) and Finley was excited because there were no shots involved!
I was anxious to talk to her pediatrician about her allergy situation. He agreed that he thought she was having an intolerance to fruit. He said she should outgrow it, but that we should limit her fruit intake for the foreseeable future and to definitely avoid juice. Devin and I aren't big on her having juice anyway so we're fine with this. I was just happy to know that she doesn't need fruit to get all of her dietary needs taken care of.
He also said that her eyes were going to remain blue, that it's normal for her to drag one leg when she crawls (she does that rarely, but we were a bit concerned), that it is also quite normal for her to turn her feet in at times when she tries to take steps, and that her belly button, which is still kind of an outey, will be an inny by the time she is two.
Throughout the visit, he kept saying "Finley, you are such a funny little kid." I absolutely love our pediatrician, but I just wasn't quite sure what he meant by this. I was just about to ask him when he said "Yep, you are funny little girl... most nine-month-olds won't even let me near them and you're just letting me have all kinds of fun playing with you!" Devin and I had just been discussing how she really hasn't ever been afraid of strangers, but Dr. K was particularly surprised since she stays at home with me.
Before we left, he looked at her chart once more and said that she was exactly where he expected her to be and where he sees her continuing. He said that she will probably have my build and continue to be tiny, but average height. It's crazy to me that they can already tell these things and I guess it isn't always accurate, but I'm glad that he thinks she is growing appropriately and that there is nothing to be concerned about. She looks average weight to me and Devin though she continues to be in the 10th percentile. We're just happy that she is healthy!!!!!!
After her appointment, we went shopping! Hey, it's what I would want to do on my "birthday"! I still hadn't found a dress for my brother's birthday so I really had no choice, but to brave the mall again. Fortunately, a dress that I had been eyeing was marked down by almost half and they only had one left in my size! I snatched it up and then found another dress for only $30 that I think might be more "beachy". Now I have two more outfits for Beth's showers as well. After so many unsuccessful shopping trips, I was ecstatic to have a such a good one! I also found some great deals on summer clothes for Finley. All of her sundresses are 3-6 months and look more like tops on her now. I actually have paired a few of them with shorts and it's a cute look!
When we got home, we played, took a mini-photo-shoot, and even went on a walk! We've been so busy lately that it was nice to do some of our usual activities. When Devin got home, he lowered her crib to the lowest setting. I can't believe we're already lowering it again, but the pediatrician said it was a must since she is now climbing.
If you know me at all, you know I detest birthdays. Nothing puts me in a worse mood than birthdays... and it isn't an age thing because I've hated them since I was 15 or 16, but it is so important to me that Finley loves birthdays. I want her to enjoy the celebration of her beautiful God-given life (I know, I know... I'm lecturing myself on this as well!) so I'm already trying to make her birthdays special!
