Tonight was Meet the Teacher night at the Mother's Day Out program that Finley will start going to next week. I admit that when I received the handbook in the mail last week that I called Devin and said "Our baby is going to school!"
Devin laughed at me of course and then laughed even harder when I said "Maybe by the time she gets to 'real' school, I'll be so used to her going to "school" that it'll be an easy transition for me."
Yeah, I didn't buy that one either.

I know it is a far stretch to say she is in school when she is only going one day a week and is in the youngest class there, but wow, the handbook, official Meet the Teacher night, and the classroom resource fee sure makes me feel like she is!
Devin and I were really happy to see that her teachers would be Miss Sheila and Miss Tiffany. Miss Sheila helps with church nursery on Sundays so we already know her and she's super sweet. Miss Tiffany seemed really nice as well.
It's safe to say that Finley had no problem fitting into her Ladybug class. She was quite a hit and her and Austin are already good buds! They were sooooo cute playing together and when Finley said "Hi" to him, he broke out in a HUGE grin! It was so hysterical! They would follow each other around the room playing with different toys. (I definitely don't think Finley is going to be shy!) At one point, Finley was playing with some toy keys and Austin took them from her and she let him play with them for a couple of minutes before she grabbed them back out of his hands. (By the way, Devin was proud!) They also kept "fighting" over this toy below. It seems most of the class are first children so none of them have learned to share yet. Those poor teachers! Regardless, Finley and Austin are no doubt going to be best friends this year.
Now on to the backpack... since Finley was going off to school, she obviously needed a backpack... or maybe just maybe I, being anti-diaper bag, decided it was a must-have since backpacks are so stinking cute these days!

And where normally, I'm so frugal, I could not resist this cute one from Pottery Barn Kids... especially since I could have it personalized with her name.
If you'll remember, we first saw the name Finley embroidered on a little girl's backpack so of course, our Finley needed her very own one as well!
I tried taking a picture of her in front of our front door since I thought it would be cute to take a first day and last day picture each school year in front of it (Can you imagine how big she is going to be by the end of the year?), but I had a hard time getting her to stay still. These will have to do and I'll try taking more on Tuesday... along with a better Mother/Daughter picture!
Oh, and the best news? I'm the Room Mom for Finley's class so I'll get to help with all the parties and teacher appreciation days!
