Down for the Count

I knew it was bound to happen at some point....

I found myself so sick Thursday night that I didn't sleep more than 30 minutes and when Devin offered to see if his parents could take Finley on Friday, I was more than open for having someone else watch her.  Especially since I was running a fever on and off and had thrown up several times.  This was the first time since having Finley that I was too sick to care for her myself.

LbC had kicked and boogied all night long so I wasn't too concerned about him, but after a little prompting from Beth, I did decide to call my doctor's office to make sure there wasn't anything I should do or could take to get over whatever I had.

I was pretty surprised when instead of giving my information and being told a nurse would call me back that I was instead put on hold and being told that the nurse really wanted to talk to me and that it would be a few seconds before I was connected to her.  When I described my symptoms to the nurse, I asked if she could prescribe me something or if I just needed to wait it out.  When instead she said "Actually, I want you to go to the hospital immediately."  I went from surprised to shocked.

She promised an IV would fix me right up, but was really concerned that this bug could lead to preterm labor as it had for multiple moms lately.  So I called Devin to tell him I was headed to the hospital.  My voice started breaking as I told him because the reality of what the nurse said was starting to hit me.  Preterm labor!  Even the consideration put me in full panic.  Devin of course rushed home so that he could take me to the hospital himself.

After a bag of IV with nausea medicine mixed in, the nurse came in expecting me to be a ton better.  One look at me and she could see that I wasn't.  I was worse.  So I was moved to a different floor and a different room after a nausea shot to get another full bag of IV.  Thankfully, LbC was indeed fine and they actually took him off the monitor because he set the alarm off by not staying within the range of the monitor.  They continued to check him often though and it was nice for us to hear his heartbeat so much.  Especially Devin who hadn't heard it in awhile.

After the second bag of IV, I still wasn't a ton better, but at this point, I was ready to be home and I figured if LbC was fine than there was no real need for me to be at the hospital.  So I was released after spending most of Friday there.

I came home and slept almost straight from 5 p.m. until 8 the next morning.  I woke up feeling a bit better just still sluggish.  I was no longer running a fever and could keep food down.  Thank goodness!

On Saturday, I continued to take it a bit easy, but still got up and around to do a few things.  By Sunday, I was MUCH better.  We went to Sunday School and Church and met up with friends for dinner.  After dinner, I went grocery shopping and found myself in full nesting mode.

I guess realizing that I could possibly have LbC freaked me out because as Devin was getting ready for bed, he found me packing my hospital bag!  Though I am sure that LbC has several more weeks until his big debut, I am now in pure panic mode to get everything organized just in case.  I spent most of today getting the guest room cleaned back out and though both Finley and LbC's rooms are in limbo as we switch from nursery to big girl room and from guest room to nursery, I am feeling a little better about things.  I obviously still do not want LbC to come anytime soon, but I at least feel that I have a few preparations made just in case!
