Dear Jude,
Here we are again! Celebrating a new month of your existence! You are two whole months old and that is just plain ridiculous! You are such an easy baby and the sweetest thing ever. You are a perfect addition to our family and it goes without saying that we are all ridiculously crazy about you!
Here's what you are doing these days:
- You are in size 1 diapers... mainly because all the newborn diapers that were given to us by Mary when Ryan outgrew them finally ran out! We are so thankful that we have yet to buy diapers for you!
- You weighed 9 pounds 1 ounce on your 4 week mark and measured about 22.5 inches long. You are gaining around .5 to 1 ounce a day which is really good, but you are still in the very low percentiles. Because you are gaining, there is no need to worry though at times Mommy still does. =)
- Last month, I affectionately named you my Stinky Boy because you pooped all.the.time. This month, not so much. You are currently a week plus without one single poopy diaper. You aren't uncomfortable though and Finley did the same thing around this age.
- You are still in newborn clothes, but also can wear 0-3 month rompers/one-pieces. Pants in 0-3 are absolutely HUGE on you, but your long torso allows you to get away with 0-3 onesies and one-pieces.
- You've begun to smile more and more! For awhile I thought you were going to be super-serious and you still might be, but you are definitely embracing the smile these days.
- You also just in the last week have cooing. I love it!
- Unfortunately, you have stopped making the monkey sound. =(
- You've started eating longer usually around 20 minutes (10 minutes on each side) during the day. We still cluster feed at night and then you usually sleep from 10 or 11 until 4 or 5. You are a great sleeper! You usually only eat for about 5 minutes during the middle of the night making it easy for both of us to quickly fall back asleep.
- You still aren't on a real routine... You do eat, stay awake, and sleep consistently in that order, but I haven't really pushed anything else. This summer I plan to put in place a little bit more of a routine, but there doesn't seem to be a real need at the moment.
- You still like your bouncy chair and because of all of your congestion, we've been letting you sleep in it.
- You did obviously contract your first illness this month. It was so sad to see you having trouble breathing, coughing, eating, etc. I'm so glad that you are feeling better!
- You still aren't crazy about bath time. I think we should've invested in a better bath tub for you. The one we have is still so big and you don't like it very much.
- You seem to really like tummy time though I don't think you use it for what you should (strengthening your neck)! Most often, you fall asleep because you love that the boppy keeps your binky in your mouth.
- You do love your binky and swaddle blanket! Probably more this month than last.
- You are alert quite a bit these days, but still don't have a problem sleeping through all the chaos around you.
- You are getting more hair on top of your head, losing it along the back middle of your head, and your eyelashes and eyebrows are showing up more now!
- Your eyes are less gray this month... They are a beautiful navy!
- You still seem to love your Mommy--- your eyes follow my voice when you aren't in my arms! You aren't particular though... you'll go to anyone.
- You are still gaining weight mostly in your head and belly! Your little arms and legs are so skinny! You are so adorable!
- You put up with a lot of your sister's rough attempts at loving on you with complete calm! Though sometimes you fuss, you are much stronger than you look!
- You are showing more and more of your personality and all I know is that I can't wait to see more. I can't wait to fall more and more in love with you!
Love,
Mommy
