All About Finley

Every month seems to go quickly, but I really do not know where the last month has gone.  I can't believe it is already time for another post celebrating Finley's "birthday".  She's had a big month with a lot of milestones and I'm sure now that she is eight months old there will be even more!

She weighs 15 pounds 13 ounces and is 27.5 inches long.  She is in the 10th percentile in weight, but almost in the 50 percentile in length.  I think she is starting to lose some of her baby fat now that she is moving which I've read is fairly normal.

She pulled up for the first time yesterday!  She had pulled up on my legs a couple of times before, but yesterday she grabbed onto the laundry basket and stood right up!  She also tried to unfold half of the laundry.

She can find a power cord anywhere she goes and will find a way to get to it!  I also spend most of the day trying to reroute her from the dog's bowl.  She so wants to eat the dog food and play in the water.  GROSS!

She is now taking big girl baths.  We are still bathing her in her baby tub, but then we let her splash around in the tub full of water.  She has so much fun!

She is down to four bottles a day, 5 ounces each, with 3 "meals" of solid food.  So far, we have reintroduced pears, peaches, squash, carrots, and green beans.  She does great with vegetables, but seems to have an intolerance to too many "sweets".  We've learned to only give one fruit a day.

She is almost feeding herself a bottle these days.  We help her a bit, but she's pretty competent at it now.

Along with pulling herself up to a standing position, she can also pull herself up to her knees in her crib so this is how she greets me sometimes.

She is becoming more of a talker.  She will go through periods of extreme chattiness and it's absolutely adorable.  She babbles in "t" and "k" now.  It also sounded like she was saying "Hi, Dadda!" the other day.  (I am taking a poll on what her first word will be... You can make your guess at the top of my blog.)

She loves watching other kids.  I took her to the zoo this past Friday and she couldn't stop staring at all of them.  She was absolutely fascinated.

She isn't big on stuffed animals, but loves the tags on them... or really the tag on anything.  She has a taggie blanket, but isn't really interested in it.

She still loves her daddy!!!!!!

She goes into turbo-crawl-mode when she wants pretty much anything she isn't supposed to have.  She also kind of sticks her right leg out to the side when she is crawling on the hard floor.

She does not understand "No."

She still doesn't have any teeth though she is liking the teething ring more.  I check every morning.  She absolutely loves watching Devin and I brush our teeth which we find hysterical.  She will stop whatever she is doing and just watch us with a big smile on her face.

She is improving her sippy cup skills.  She will just chew on one of hers, but we found a new one that has a softer spout and she is learning how to get water out of it.  She "pretends" to drink out of empty Eskimo Joe cups.

She loves playing with her blocks.  It is her favorite toy these days.  She doesn't really care for the exersaucer now that she can M-O-V-E.

She is still addicted to her swaddle blanket, but I think it's more my fault than hers.  It is just so much easier to get her down for a nap if I swaddle her first.

She is wearing Size 1-2 in Huggies now.  I'm still more of a Pamper's girl, but we thought we'd give Huggies a try.  And apparently, Finley is too... see next item.

She has a favorite commercial.  It's crazy because she doesn't really pay much attention until this commercial comes on and she will just stare at the t.v.

She no longer has her late night feed which I miss.  Instead of feeding her like I was, I still go in and rock her while praying for her.  I am really going to be sad when she no longer enjoys being rocked in my arms.

She continues to love music.  No matter how fussy she is we can usually improve her mood instantly simply by singing her a song.

She still takes her binky, but will occasionally suck her thumb.

She gets hot very easily... her hair gets all sweaty.  We'll see if she ends up becoming a furnace at night like I do.

She has a fussy hour.  From about 6:00-7:00 p.m., she is fighting sleep since I'm trying to take away her late afternoon catnap right now.  We usually go on a walk during this time which helps both of us deal with the fussiness.

Her eyes are still beautifully blue.

Her bedtime is between 7:30 and 8:00 p.m. each night and she usually sleeps until 7:30 a.m.  Unfortunately if she goes to bed later, she does not wake up later in the morning.

She is still in mostly 3-6 month clothing.  She can wear a few 6-9 month onesies and a few 0-3 month dresses, but for the most part is in 3-6.

She loves being outside in the grass.  This is her "intent" look.

She has recently discovered her reflection in the dishwasher and can spend a good 10 minutes sitting in front of it.

And...
She is truly the most wonderful, beautiful baby ever and I love her more than I can stand!

Love it!!! :) And, by the way...I still say her first word was "hi" to me! I don't care that she was mimicking what I said...I'm taking it! ;) LaLa!
