Finley's First Birthday Party

So Finley's birthday party went really well.  I was a little nervous never having been in charge of a child's birthday party before, but everything was great!  Our house was a bit crowded, but everyone seemed to make due.  The OSU game ended up being scheduled at the exact time as the party so most everyone milled around the TV which was fine with us since the majority of the crowd was adults and we didn't really know how to entertain them! =)  The kids seemed to be having a good time with the sidewalk chalk and toys in the playroom so it all worked out nicely.

Finley did seem a bit overwhelmed with all the people.  I don't think she really knew what to think of the crowd and I could tell she sought out those that she knew best, but she never really got fussy, she just wasn't sure what to think about all of it.

Even though we had let her have some cake on her actual birthday, I was curious to see what she would do with cake #2.  She absolutely cracked me up with it.  She didn't know what to do with her hands so she just opened her mouth wide and put it around the cake, but she wouldn't take an actual bite, she just sat there tasting it.  It was hysterical!!!!  I finally tried to break it a part a little so that she would dive into it, but she still seemed to prefer just sitting with her mouth around as much of it as she could!  She did definitely enjoy the ice cream though.  She pretty much inhaled it.

Gift time was fun as well.  Finley played with the packaging some, but she really seemed interested in the toys which was exciting!  Everyone picked out great stuff for her and I can't wait for her to get to enjoy all of her new toys.  

All-in-all it was just a fantastic day and I'm so excited that our little girl is officially one!
